If you’re going on a trip and charter service is your planned method of transportation, there are a few things you should know about packing. To ensure the safety of all passengers, charter bus companies prohibit passengers from bringing dangerous objects aboard. Here’s an overview of items you can bring on your bus trip and those you should leave behind.

Do:

Bring your devices.

Bus rides create the perfect opportunity for binge-watching a series, catching up on a podcast, or reading a book on your tablet. Just don’t forget your portable charger! Also, it’s recommended that you bring earbuds so you can listen without disturbing other passengers.

Create a comfy space.

If you’ll be on the road for a considerable amount of time, you might want to bring a neck pillow and small blanket to keep yourself comfortable for the ride. An eye mask may also be helpful for getting some rest before you reach your destination.

Be considerate with food.

Don’t:

Pack any sharp objects.

While weapons of any nature are understandably prohibited, you should also check your luggage for any other pointy items that could be dangerous. Kitchen knives and scissors aren’t allowed on charter buses, for instance.

Bring any hazardous materials.

Fireworks, chemicals, and any other hazardous or explosive materials should be left behind. Any flammable material must be left behind, so check the label of any liquids before packing them.

Try to bring pets on board.

In most cases, dogs and other pets are restricted from travel via charter service. While exceptions are often made for service animals, check with your bus company before your trip to be sure.
