Often referred to as crow’s feet, wrinkles around the eye can be an inconvenient annoyance to many people. Fortunately, there are a number of steps you can take to prevent them from occurring. Incorporate the following advice into your eye care regimen to keep your face looking youthful for as long as possible.

Do:

Avoid squinting.

Eye CareFor people who must wear corrective glasses or contact lenses, seeing without them can be tough. It can also lead to squinting, which will wrinkle the area around your eyes at a faster rate. To prevent squinting, wear your corrective lenses at all times so you can see clearly.

Wear sunscreen containing Helioplex®.

Both UVA and UVB rays can damage your skin, which is why broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended. Additionally, you may also want to make sure your sunscreen contains Helioplex®. This ingredient prevents sunscreen from breaking down as quickly as other products, which means your protection will be longer lasting.

Don’t:

Rub your eyes.

After a long day of work, it may feel good to rub your tired eyes. However, this can damage the elasticity of the skin around your eyes and lead to premature aging. Rubbing your eyes can also be unsanitary, as you can transfer any germs on your hands to your eyes.

Neglect to wear sunglasses.

Along with sunscreen protection, sunglasses are another important eye care tool. Excessive sun exposure can cause wrinkles as well as other types of skin damage. Not only do sunglasses help prevent wrinkles by blocking harmful rays and preventing squinting, but they can also help preserve your vision, which can also be damaged from excessive sun exposure.
