Mentally Prep for the Holidays At This Caribbean Retreat, 13, Maryland

The holiday season is often a time of reflection, but the rush of the end of the year doesn’t leave time for relaxation. This juxtaposition rings particularly true for clinicians, who experience periods of compassion fatigue, a feeling of hopelessness and despair after a long year of empathetic interactions with trauma-struck patients. To curb this side effect, all professionals should consider a weekend of rest to prep for end-of-year stress. At this upcoming Caribbean retreat from Metro Collaborative™, get ahead of the holiday rush with a few days beachside to focus on yourself.

Reflect, Relax, Renew: A Healing Workshop

Reflect, Relax, Renew is an introduction to self-care. The retreat aims to target stress in your life and create the skills and mindfulness to manage it. It will take place from October 27 thru 31.

With the idyllic Villa Serena as a backdrop to inspire personal growth, you will feel encouraged to reflect and de-stress while taking in the oceanfront views at Dominican Republic boutique hotel. Use your time at this Caribbean retreat to relax in morning meditations, yoga classes, massage sessions, and scenic nature walk. And what is a beach locale without time to explore it? The retreat offers a range of activities that venture beyond Villa Serena; island excursions, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and time spent beachside can all be on the agenda.

Bill Dennis M.Ed. And Natasha Despotovic C.C.H. will facilitate this weekend of wellness with workshops on self-care and the importance of a strong work/life balance. Dennis is a former psychotherapist at The Center for Holistic Medicine and the founder of Metro Collaborative™, which specializes in teaching collaborative healthcare to dentists, physicians, and therapists. Despotovic, an executive director of an NGO in DC and New York, brings her skills as a certified yoga instructor and a homeopath to contribute to Dennis’ Metro Collaborative™ vision.

Armed with the skills this wellness destination will provide, you’ll head back to reality feeling refreshed and ready to take on the holiday rush.
