2. Halogen

While inexpensive to purchase, halogen bulbs have an average annual operating cost of $219.06, much higher than CFL and LED options.

3. LEDs

They are the most expensive upfront but offer a better return on your investment. LEDs are at least 75% more efficient than incandescent bulbs and offer dimming abilities so you can use them in many settings including for landscaping, decorations, recessed, and outdoor lighting.
