Since 1852, Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse, WI, has provided a beautiful place for families to memorialize their loved ones. In honor of the community’s long legacy, the cemetery partners each year with the La Crosse County Historical Society to host a Discover the Silent City event. This September, bring family and friends to learn more about the history of La Crosse on a guided cemetery tour.

“Discover the Silent City” Cemetery Tour

Theme: Prohibition

Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019  –  Walking Tours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motor Coach Tour  –  10:30 a.m.

cemeteryThe “silent city” is a sacred place for members of the community and provides unique insight into the region’s history. Knowledgeable tour guides host 90” walking tours which depart every 15 minutes from the cemetery between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. A guided motor coach tour will depart at 10:30 a.m.  Each tour will feature performers in period era attire re-enacting a piece of La Crosse history from the prohibition era.

Mark your calendars for this exciting cultural event! Tickets are $12 for members of the Historical Society, $15 for non-members, and $6 for students.
