You’ve already gone to several appointments at the women’s health clinic and want to know if you’re having a boy or girl. If you want to find out the gender of your baby surrounded by your family and friends, consider throwing a reveal party. If you share your baby’s gender in a unique way, it will be that much more memorable. By having a close relative or friend come with you to the women’s health clinic when the gender of your child is determined using ultrasound, they can keep it a secret until the big day so it’s a surprise for everyone! Here are six unique and fun ways to discover your baby’s gender with family and friends.

6 Ideas for a Gender Reveal

1. Open a Big Box

Why not reveal whether you are having a boy or girl by opening a gigantic box? Have a loved one who went to the women’s health clinic with you put either blue or pink balloons in the box, and everyone can find out what you’re having as they float out.

2. Pop a Balloon

3. Serve Cupcakes

Who doesn’t love biting into a delicious cupcake? Give your guests cupcakes with blue or pink sprinkles inside, and they’ll find out what you’re having as soon as they take a bite.

4. Bonfire

If you’re having a gender reveal party in the fall, consider sharing the big news around a bonfire. Throw in a flame-color-changing chemical to let everyone know what you’re having. Copper chloride or calcium chloride produce blue flames, while lithium chloride produces pink flames. You can purchase these at a grocery, hardware or fireworks store.

5. Sorting Hat

For Harry Potter fans, you can use the Sorting Hat to reveal your child’s gender. As you pick up the hat, either blue or pink confetti will come out.

6. Piñata

Taking turns hitting a piñata with a pole can be another fun way to find out your baby’s gender. When the piñata cracks open, pink or blue candy will fall out for everyone to enjoy.
