When sitting down at your desk, you shouldn’t have to strain your neck to view your computer screen comfortably. Instead, set your monitor at eye level 20 to 40 inches from your seat. This way, you won’t need to lean forward, strain, or hunch over to get a solid view. 

2. Adjust Your Seat

Back PainTo maintain spine alignment and reduce joint strain, adjust your office chair so that you have both feet flat on the floor comfortably. In addition, adjust armrests so both arms are resting at a 90-degree angle to prevent unnecessary joint pain. 

3. Support Your Lower Back

The curve of your lower back requires support, especially if you’re sitting for an extended period. Since many office chairs don’t offer built-in support, consider investing in a lumbar pillow that keeps your spine in alignment. 

4. Take Breaks

Even workers with the perfect ergonomic set-up can suffer from shoulder, neck, and back pain if they forget to get up and keep moving! Your body wasn’t built to be sitting in the same position for hours on end, so do your best to embrace a schedule that includes short breaks every hour. Whether it’s a lap around the office, a trip to the kitchen to get your legs moving, or simply taking the time to stand up and perform a few stretches, find a way to offset your sedentary position.
