3 Reasons When Tree Removal is Necessary

People become attached to their trees for many reasons.  The tree may be important because of the shade it offers or screen it provides. The importance might be the memories the tree holds of children and grandchildren climbing on it or swinging from the branches. Some trees have historical significance marking an important place or it was planted as a memorial to honor someone important. These are just a few of the many reasons trees are valuable to us and sometimes making the choice to remove them a difficult one.

1. PROPERTY DAMAGE

When is it absolutely necessary to remove a tree?  Your tree must be taken down before it causes damage to property or causes harm to you, your family or the neighbors. Dead or dying trees are sometimes unpredictable and can fail when you least expect it. Storms or high winds aren't always present for dead limbs to break off falling on cars, houses, garages and even people. Depending on where the decay is on a dead or declining tree they can topple on to houses causing thousands of dollars in damage.

2. WRONG TREE IN THE WRONG PLACE

There are times when a tree needs to be removed for less dramatic reasons. It is unfortunate that a test or certification isn't required for someone to plant or recommend a tree. Many times a 9-foot tree looks great when they are planted 8 feet from the corner of the house or 5 feet from the entrance of your garage. The mature size of the tree is not taken into consideration and the Blue Spruce or River Birch overstays their welcome causing damage to your house or makes it impossible to use your garage. "Right tree, Right place" is a slogan used by Arborists and well-trained landscape architects around the world. Make sure you are planting a tree that is right for where you are planting it.

3. BLOCKING PROGRESS Tree removal in Cincinnati, OH

Trees can sometimes hold up progress. Plans change, businesses and families grow creating the need for larger houses, offices and parking lots. Although it greatly pains me to remove a living tree for this purpose the world around us is constantly evolving making it necessary. In this example, I hope all options have been explored.

Trees are removed for many reasons sometimes it's obvious and other times it's not. Tree assessment and risk management are important duties of a certified arborist that takes in consideration the safety of the homeowner and others that might be exposed. The potential dangers of trees are not always the tree themselves but the process that is used to remove it.   It is important as a homeowner that you are proactive and take action before it is too late. If the tree has little to no access for a bucket truck the decision needs to be made before the tree has declined past a point where it is no longer safe to climb. Have the tree removed before other targets like construction or newly planted trees or shrubs are in the way. If you are a homeowner that faces any of these situations or have trees that need to be assessed contact the arborists at Dave & Aaron Stang's Certified Tree (513)936-9777 to discuss your options.
