Somerset Car Accident Leaves 20-Year-Old College Student Dead, Police Officer Injured

A car accident in Somerset in the early morning of Friday, June 10 left a 20-year-old college student dead and a police officer injured.

The officer involved in the crash was responding to a report of a carjacking when his cruiser collided with the victim’s 1999 Honda Civic around 12:30 A.M. According to State Police, the Honda was approaching a left-hand turn at an intersection when the vehicles hit head-on.  Describing the crash, Somerset Police Chief George McNeil said, “It was a pretty heavy duty collision. They bounced off each other and the officer went into the telephone pole, the other victim spun around.” somerset UMass Dartmouth Student Killed In Somerset Police Cruiser Crash
