For years, the only way to straighten your teeth was to live with bulky wires and brackets. However, the Invisalign® system has changed all of that. Designed to be smooth, comfortable, and just as effective as traditional braces, Invisalign can make your dream smile a reality. Keep these do’s and don’ts in mind while using the treatment for optimal results.

Do:

Show off your smile.

Since braces use special brackets anchored to the front of your teeth, they can give your smile a juvenile appearance. However, Invisalign trays are made with special transparent plastic, letting your gorgeous smile shine through.

Attend regular checkups.

For Invisalign treatment to work, you’ll need to switch out the trays periodically to adjust the position of your teeth. Never skip checkups with your orthodontist, and report any problems to your doctor right away.

Don’t:

Eat with them in.

bracesInvisalign trays are removable and only need to be worn 22 hours a day. The remaining two hours account for when you remove Invisalign aligners before eating to keep them clean and stain-free. You also take the trays out to brush and floss your teeth.

Fiddle with aligners.

Resist the urge to fiddle with your Invisalign trays, even though the practice seems harmless. When your aligners are clicked out of place, they can’t do the job they are designed to perform, which can affect your results. Additionally, trays are susceptible to damage when chewed on.
