A New Hampshire resident is facing OUI charges in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Chelmsford, MA in the early hours of June 10th.

Massachusetts State police responded to reports of a crash on Route 3 at about 1:30 AM on Sunday. A Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 38-year-old resident of Nashua, New Hampshire rear-ended a 1996 Toyota Camry driven by a 63-year-old man, also of New Hampshire esidency. The Jetta became disabled in the middle lane, while the Camry came to a stop perpendicular to the direction of travel. A 28-year-old motorist operating a 2006 Jeep Cherokee and traveling in the middle lane swerved to avoid the Jetta and crashed into the Camry.

The driver of the Camry was rushed to Lowell General Hospital but was later pronounced dead. The two other drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The 38-year-old driver was arrested and charged with an OUI causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a state highway traffic violation. The driver of the Cherokee has not been charged.

Police are still investigating the crash, and have stated that there may be additional charges.
