Hawaii County Employees Federal Credit Union is pleased to invite you to stop in and see their newly remodeled facilities in Hilo, HI. It is the first major renovation the credit union has made since they moved into the space more than 25 years ago, and they are proud of the changes. Below, they discuss the key architectural updates and explain some of the reasons they've made this improvement.

What Are the Latest Improvements?

Second-Floor Expansion

Previously, the credit union had only a partial second floor. This permitted a high ceiling over the lobby and a skylight that let in natural sunlight. Although this was an attractive feature, it was spatially inefficient. To better serve their customers and keep up with an expanding customer base, they've removed the skylight and extended the second floor over the lobby.

Loan Department Office Space

As part of this second-floor expansion, they've increased the amount of office space devoted to the loan department. These generous quarters will allow increased staffing so the credit union can more quickly and efficiently process loan applications, check credit histories, and communicate with clients.

Credit UnionA New, More Modern Lobby

The updated lobby allows for better workflow and foot traffic and enables tellers to handle customer needs more quickly. Bright new lobby lights give the facility a crisp, modern look that better suits the company's client outreach goals.

Why Expand Now?

In recent years, Hawaii has consistently been one of the fastest growing states in the U.S., and in 2014 Hawaii County was the second fastest growing region of the state. The credit union directors felt that changes to the building's infrastructure needed to take place to accommodate this growth. The expanded space makes doing business more convenient and comfortable and lets them better serve their customers.

Even though the building has changed, Hawaii County Employees Federal Credit Union still offers the same exceptional service and convenient online banking features. They are a full-service lender, and in addition to checking and savings accounts, they offer mortgage loans, car loans, and flexible lines of credit.
