Since they first opened their gates to the public in 2010, Kahuku Farms has had an ambitious goal: to educate Oahu’s North Shore about sustainable agriculture and where their food comes from. The main way they approach this goal is by hosting a series of farm tours on their large estate. Here’s what you can expect:

Before the Tour

Kahuku Farms offers three unique farm tours: Smoothie, Grand, and School. Each explores a different aspect of the farm and is ideal for visitors of all ages. However, all three fill up fast, so you’ll need to make a reservation first. On the day of your tour, remember to check in 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.

During the Tour

Your guide will then tell you about each of these tropical fruits and how Kahuku Farms maintains and harvests them. They’ll also discuss how they’re used in their local café’s smoothies. The whole tour will last around 30 minutes.

On the Grand Tour, you’ll take an hour-long ride around Kahuku Farm’s commercial fields and see all the fruits and vegetables the island has to offer. You’ll also learn about the farm-to-table movement.

Finally, School Tours are designed to teach young children about sustainable agriculture. During the tour, students will learn about a variety of different crops grown on the farm and ways to keep them thriving in our Hawaiian climate. School tours also include a growing class where students learn how to plant and nurture a seed. Every field trip group will enjoy a sampling of farm fruits while students learn the importance of healthy soil with composting.

After the Tour

Both the Smoothie Tour and Grand Tour end with a sampling of Kahuku Farm’s fresh produce. In the former, you’ll get to sip on a fresh Papaya Power Smoothie. In the latter, you’ll get to try a variety of farm fruits. If you’re still hungry, you can stop by the local café for more farm-to-table favorites.

Farm tours are a fun, exciting way for both children and adults to not only experience the natural world but also see firsthand how sustainable agriculture benefits the whole community. To book your tour, visit Kahuku Farms online or call (808) 628-0639 today.
