Whether you are planning a local move or relocating across the country, hauling belongings in a truck rental can minimize trips and ease the process. The trucks feature roomy interiors that can hold several boxes, bulky furniture, and anything else you plan to take on the journey. Although truck rentals have a lot of space, there are still a few effective packing strategies you can adopt to ensure you won’t run out of room.

How to Maximize Space in Moving Trucks

Disassemble Bulky Belongings

Texarkana-Arkansas-truck-rentalIf you have kitchen cabinets, mattress frames, and any other bulky metal or wooden furniture, see if the items can be disassembled. Stacking the slats and dividers in the truck rental will help conserve space. The individual components might be fragile once taken apart, so place them in furniture blankets or bubble wrap to prevent damage. If you are moving a lot of boxes and items that can’t be taken apart, lean the wrapped disassembled parts around the walls of the truck, and place the larger items in the middle.

Push Heavy Items to the Back

Once you’ve lined the perimeter of the cabin with the individual furniture pieces, put large boxes, refrigerators, mattresses, and any other heavy belongings all the way in the back of the truck rental. If the cargo shifts in transit, the back wall will provide support to help prevent the items from crushing more fragile pieces.

Place Furniture Standing Upright

To make more room, utilize every inch of the inside of the truck rental. If you have long couches, coffee tables, mattresses, and additional belongings, stand them upright in the truck. Doing so will make way for boxes and anything else that can’t be turned or adjusted to make room. Upholstered furniture could snag while loading or unloading, so cover them with tarps to prevent tears.
