It’s swimsuit season in Honolulu, Hawaii! At Born of the Water, we are known for our trendy and practical swim tops, swim bottoms and one pieces! With our knowledge of quality pieces by local designers, we can get you into the bikini you’ve always dreamed of, regardless if you’re local or just on vacation.
But here’s an awesome tip... did you know that your swimwear can do more than just have you look amazing at the beach? Serve looks anytime of day, no matter what the occasion, with Born of the Water’s guide to dressing up your swimwear:
1. Beach Babe to Boardwalk Chic
To achieve this effortless look, don a simple one piece swimsuit in a neutral color (like La Pearl Swim’s Poppy One Piece swimsuit in Ribbed Black and Wine) and spruce it up with a pareo. This look can easily take you from beach to boardwalk in seconds. Pair it with some statement earrings and some cute sandals, and you’re ready for dinner in Waikiki!
2. Bikini Top + Body Con Skirt = Summer Time Fine
Get flirty with a bikini top as a crop top! Any underwire swimsuit top will do, like Pualani Hawaii’s fantastic Bra Top, and grab any high-waisted body con skirt to complete this look.
3. Skater Girl Turned Surfer
A rash guard is essentially just a skintight T-shirt. Tuck it into a skater skirt with some flat sandals and a cross-body bag, and no one will even realize you're wearing a swimsuit. And an added bonus, you’ll be protecting your skin from the intense summer sun! Lilikoi Brazil and La Pearl Swim have rash guards with Hawaii-inspired prints that will have you turning heads this summer.
4. Sassy and Strappy
Turn the swooping line of an open-backed dress into a frame for an awesome multi-strapped bikini top. Match the dress and your bikini to create the illusion that the bikini and dress are all one piece. Pualani Hawaii’s Yogini bikini top or La Pearl Swim’s Pia swim top are great pieces to achieve this daring look!
5. Hipster Hottie
Wider bikinis and bandeaus are ideal under tops with open, low-cut armholes. The wider the band and the greater the contrast in color and print, the more intentional your exposed bikini top will look. Pair this combo with some high-waisted denim shorts and statement sunglasses for a fun day adventuring through Kakaako!
6. Fun and Flirty
There's something fun about a floral maxi skirt and a ruffled swim top that doubles as a crop top. Wear the skirt at your natural waist to make the look a little more figure-flattering and throw on a light-weight jacket for a little more coverage. Dress up the look with high heels, or keep it cool and casual with flats for a brunch date with your besties at the Kahala hotel.
