With sandy beaches, clear blue ocean, endless recreation opportunities, and world-class shopping, dining, and lodging, there’s nowhere better to travel than Hawaii for an epic summer vacation. Waikiki in particular is one of the state’s most popular travel destinations because of its many attractions and recreational activities. When visiting this tourist hub, don’t miss these four spots.

Travel Attractions in Waikiki You Shouldn’t Miss

1. Kapiolani Park

King Kalakaua named Kapiolani Park after his wife and gifted it to the city. It is the oldest and most beloved public park on the island, featuring a variety of attractions like the Honolulu Zoo, the Waikiki Shell, and the Queen Kapiolani Garden. The garden consists of plants from all over the world, including some rare native Hawaiian species. The park also contains plenty of space for recreation and leisure, with tennis courts, picnic areas, and jogging paths.

2. Waikiki Aquarium

travelFounded in 1904, the Waikiki Aquarium is the third oldest public aquarium in the U.S. and preserves one of Hawaii’s most renowned natural treasures—its aquatic wildlife. Its residents include coral reefs, tropical fish, reptiles, and one of Hawaii’s only native mammals, the Hawaiian monk seal. If you go, don’t miss the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Exhibit, a recreation of the underwater habitat found in that part of the ocean.

3. International Market Place

The International Market Place is a spacious and unique open-air shopping and dining area in the heart of Waikiki. It’s known for its lush, quintessentially Hawaiian landscaping, including an iconic banyan tree, as well as world-class shops featuring local and international goods from Kona coffee to Swarovski® crystals.

4. Beaches

Throughout the islands, the main attractions are the gorgeous, sandy beaches. Waikiki is no exception with pristine waterfront spots ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. These expansive sunny strips are also perfect for a day of relaxation. In the west, you’ll find Kahanamoku Beach, which overlaps with Sans Souci Beach in the east. The most famous beach, however, is the stretch in front of the iconic pink Royal Hawaiian Resort.

No Hawaii vacation would be complete without a stay at a beachside hotel. If you’re planning a trip to Waikiki, book a room at The Breakers Hotel.
