There’s nothing worse than car trouble, especially when you‘re completely unprepared for it. It’s costly, stressful, and can take up time and resources you don’t have. Mr. Transmission knows the stress of having to fix unwanted repairs, especially transmissions—and they should, as they’ve been Cincinnati’s number one transmission maintenance and repair company for over 15 years.

Mr. Transmission fully believes in preventative measures when it comes to transmissions, like knowing what signs to look for when it’s time to have your transmission fluid serviced, or get a transmission flush. While checking and refilling transmission fluid is part of regular car maintenance, getting a transmission flush is not. Transmissions should only be flushed when it’s necessary. Generally, every two years is sufficient for having your transmission flushed. In the meantime, it’s best to regularly check your fluids and take note of any signs of trouble.

To help you prevent transmission catastrophes, here are five signs your car needs a transmission flush:

  1. Your transmission is slipping: If your car starts to hesitate as you pull off or if you can feel it slip out of gear, you might need to have your transmission flushed.
  2. There are dark red/pink leaks or other dark fluids under your car: If you see pools of fluid under your car, especially pink or red fluid, it could mean your transmission has a leak. A transmission flush will help determine where, if any, the leaks are.
  3. Odd smells from your transmission: If you smell odors coming from your transmission, especially when you’re changing gears, it’s a possible indication that the fluid is old and dirty.
  4. Transmission is grinding or making noises: If you feel grinding anytime you change gears, or if your transmission makes weird noises when you’re driving, you could be dealing with dirt or sludge in your transmission that needs to be flushed.
  5. Your car surges often: If you notice that your vehicle surges forward or backward, it could mean you aren’t getting an adequate amount of transmission fluid running through your system. A transmission flush will take care of the dirty fluid and eliminate surging.

Don't wait until it's too late. If you notice any of these signs, or other strange problems with your transmission, you should seek the expertise of transmission professionals, such as the technicians at Mr. Transmission. They will help you diagnose what’s wrong with your transmission so you aren’t left stranded somewhere. To contact Mr. Transmission with your transmission questions, or to make an appointment, simply call (513) 769-3111.
