Losing a pet is scary for both the animal and its owner. As any veterinarian will tell you, if your furry friend gets lost, getting them back as soon as possible provides the greatest guarantee of their safety. An implanted microchip improves the odds of a speedy reunion. Throughout July 2018, Ohana Veterinary Hospital is partnering up with the Hawaii Humane Society to microchip your pets for only $10 per animal.

How Microchipping Works

veterinarianA microchip is a small transponder, about the size of a grain of rice, which contains a unique electronic identification number. It is injected just under the animal’s skin between the shoulder blades. Using a scanner, a veterinarian can check the ID and get the pet owner’s info by referring to a nationwide database.

To help protect pets in the local community, Ohana Veterinary Hospital is offering microchips for only $10 per pet throughout July 2018. In addition to their veterinarians taking care of the physical procedure, they will mail and complete the registration form for you, ensuring your animal’s information is on file.

Protect Your Pet

Unlike a collar, a microchip can’t slip off or be removed. Studies have shown that the rate of return for lost animals is 74% higher when they are microchipped. In some cases, pets have been reunited with their owners years after being lost thanks to this technology.

Microchipping at Ohana Veterinary Hospital is available only by appointment. You can call the veterinarians at (808) 845-1762 or use the online form to request the procedure for your pet. Make sure to mention the $10 deal. Supplies may be limited, so secure your pet a spot as soon as possible.
