Pools provide much-needed relief on a hot summer day. As a pool owner, you want to make sure your pool is in its best shape, which includes a pristine pool liner that looks good and offers a protective barrier between your swimming pool’s frame and the water. Here are four common issues that can occur with liners and how to prevent them.

Pool Liner Problems & How to Solve Them

1. Wrinkles

Sometimes, when landscaping traps too much water around the swimming area, it can affect the liner, leading to wrinkles. After installing a sump well or pit about five feet deep near the pool’s edge, the excess water is collected and sent away from the pool area. Once the water issue is solved, a pool repair team can fix any remaining wrinkles. If the damage is too extensive, you may need a replacement pool liner.

2. Bumps

Usually, lumps and bumps mean that something underneath the pool has shifted. If yours is situated on clay, soil, or silt, any movement in the ground can displace its lining. The best way to fix minor lumps and bumps yourself is to use a toilet plunger around the uneven areas. For large protrusions or excessive lumpy spots, it’s best to have a pool professional drain the pool and reset the liner.

3. Floating Liner

Unfortunately, debris can also get inside and cause lumps, wrinkling, and shifting. You may also see sand and dirt on slopes and walls as the debris shifts in the water. To remedy this, call a pool repair expert.

4. Rough Floor

If your swimming pool’s floor feels rough, it is most likely the result of poor installation. It’s possible that the ground was not smooth enough prior to the liner being set, or the base itself may have been damaged. A qualified pool repair expert can resurface your pool floor to create a better foundation for a pristine liner.
