Congratulations on your new floors. It is amazing the new life refinishing brings to an old wood floor. Now that your floors are refinished how can you keep them looking beautiful?

There are a few key tips we recommend:

Curing time

Your floors need time to cure! The curing of the floor finish will range from 7-30 days. During the curing time:

  • Do not cover your floors for extended periods of time with rugs or paper.
  • Do not tape anything to the floor.
  • Do not wet mop until your finish is cured.

Protect the floor

Make sure to protect the finish of the floor:

  • Use felt pads under chairs and furniture.
  • Clip and file your pet nails.
  • Implement a “no shoe” policy in the house.

Maintenance

Use these maintenance tips to extend the life of your finish:

  • Ditch your traditional broom for a microfiber one.
  • Mop as often as needed to remove dirt and grit from the floor.
  • Use entrance mats (once the floor is cured) to reduce the dirt from entering the home.
  • Clean up any spills right away.
  • Have your floors recoated (buff and coat) to add a new layer of protection.
