You want to be at your best health and get the best Ob care for your pregnancy. This is important for you and your baby.

Based on your BMI which depends on your height and weight you might gain twenty to thirty pounds during your pregnancy.

The best diet consists of foods that are nutrient rich without the high calories. These are vegetables, beans, peas, lentils and fruits. It is important to avoid sodas and alcoholic drinks. Drink plenty of water which means five to ten glasses of water daily. 

It is very important to avoid sugar, refined foods and greasy, fried and spicy foods. Additives, preservatives and raw eggs should be avoided. Processed meats such as sausage and hot dogs also should be avoided. Seafood that contain contaminants such as swordfish, tuna, tilapia, crabmeat, clams, shrimp need to be avoided.

It is very important to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and to take prenatal vitamins with folic acid daily.
