1. Take Care of Yourself

Any task is more challenging and taxing when you’re already fatigued or not in the right headspace. Get plenty of sleep, eat a balanced diet, exercise or go for walks daily, and keep clutter to a minimum to improve your overall mental health. 

2. Take Regular Breaks

This includes both daily ones, like lunch, and paid time off, such as vacation days. Don’t be afraid to use sick days, either, if you’re feeling under the weather. Reporting to work when you’re not functioning at optimum capacity is a surefire way to burn out. 

3. Practice Deep Breathing 

When you’re feeling in over your head and breaking for lunch is not an option, practice a few deep-breathing exercises. Increasing oxygen intake improves mental clarity, which makes challenges more manageable. One of the easiest ones is called “equal breathing” and can be done while sitting at your desk. Count to four while inhaling, and then again when exhaling, both times through the nose.
