With the summer sun and heat finally here, Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana Beach are full of individuals getting their tans on! While the beaches are often thought of a zone for light activity and lounging, the beach can also double as a great gym. These workouts are fun and easy since you’re exercising in your bikini and can easily cool off by jumping into the ocean!
Balance on the sit bones (just above the tailbone) and flex the torso, while your knees and arms are positioned at 90-degree angles. Straighten the right leg while reaching the right arm forward to mimic a runner’s gait. Use the core to keep the torso upright as you balance and draw in each leg. Complete 30 then rest, and do 2 more sets.
Begin in a low-squat position. Draw both arms backward and propel forward by swinging the arms and jumping forward. Land carefully to catch your balance and repeat. Continue to frog jump from one end of a marked distance, then back.
When at the beach, do as the sea creatures do! Begin seated facing the starting point. Keep both knees bent and place the hands on the sand under the shoulders. Lift the hips off the ground as high as possible. Flexing at the ankle, begin pulling through the hamstrings and pushing with the upper body. Crab walk the entire length of the marked-off distance and back.
