3 Former St. Louis School Students Who Went On to Succeed in Big Ways

1. John A. Burns

After graduating from St. Louis School in 1930, John A. Burns went on to become a police officer, which sparked his passion for politics. He worked toward obtaining statehood for Hawaii, a goal achieved in 1959. In 1962, John was elected as Governor of Hawaii—the second ever in the history of the state—and went on to to win two more terms in succession before his passing in 1975.

2. Tyson Alualu

St. Louis SchoolNo list highlighting St. Louis School's exceptional alumni would be complete without Tyson Alualu from the class of 2005. The professional athlete got his start in the school's renowned football program where he earned a reputation as one of the best players in the state. After a successful college career, the defensive end turned professional by joining the Jacksonville Jaguars. After seven seasons with the team, Tyson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017.

3. Herman Wedemeyer

Herman Wedemeyer was an actor and fan favorite on Hawaii Five-O in which he played a detective. His acting credentials may have put him on the pop culture map, but prior to his television role, he was an accomplished football player. First gaining fame at St. Louis School, he went on to play college football, which earned him the Heisman Trophy in 1945. Later, he joined the professional football world before retiring in 1949 and launching his acting career.
