Dr. Jacob Battle comes to Coryell Memorial Healthcare System (CMHS) after practicing locally in the Waco area for thirteen years. He is a native of Austin and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, with Special Honors in the Plan II Program. He received his medical degree from U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Battle completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he received awards for resident teaching and research.

Dr. Battle provides a wide range of orthopedic care, both surgical and non-surgical. He has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery and joint reconstruction of the shoulder and the knee. He treats multiple types of sports and normal life injuries including fractures, ACL injuries, meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, and labral tears. Fracture care also includes treatment of common pediatric fractures and geriatric hip fractures. Dr. Battle recognizes that non-surgical care is often appropriate and will recommend conservative care first whenever possible. For patients with degenerative or arthritic joints, he can perform knee or shoulder replacement when indicated. Dr. Battle also has a long history of providing minimally-invasive endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery for those with this common condition.

Dr. Battle is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association and McLennan County Medical Society.

“With over a decade of orthopedics experience in the central Texas area, Dr. Battle is an exceptional addition to our specialty team. Our patients will benefit from an expanded range of orthopedic care, as close to home; driving out of town is no longer necessary,” said Dr. Jeff Bates, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Coryell Memorial.

“Coryell Memorial is committed to growing and evolving our services to provide our community with access to the healthcare services they need to achieve and maintain optimal health,” said David Byrom, chief executive officer, Coryell Memorial Healthcare System. “Dr. Battle will lead Coryell Memorial Orthopedics in the continued development and delivery of leading-edge orthopedic care.”

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Battle enjoys spending time with his wife Soo and their two children. While most of their time is spent watching their children’s various sporting events, Dr. Battle also enjoys fly-fishing, bow hunting and mountain biking.
