A pool is a major asset for the home, increasing property values and providing a fun oasis for the family. If you’re planning on installing an inground pool in the yard, there are several steps to complete to get the job done. Here is everything you need to know about the process.

A Guide to Inground Pool Installations

Choose a Contractor

The best way to find a reliable and skilled contractor is to seek recommendations from friends, family, and neighbors who have worked with local companies. In particular, look for sources whose pool designs are similar to the one you want. This way, you’ll know the company is familiar with this type of project.

Design the Inground Pool

Inground PoolNext, you’ll choose where to put the pool, set the size, and design any extra elements such as water features or a diving ladder. How hands-on you are at this stage is up to you; if you’d prefer the provider to handle the design, let them know.

Excavation

The contractor will then dig out the space for the pool. You’ll need to provide a way for heavy digging equipment to access the yard. The contractor will remove the necessary earth and dig a pit that measures out to be the right shape and depth for the structure.

Framing

After excavation, the installation team will add electrical and plumbing systems. They’ll build the supporting walls, then shape and smooth the floor—or, if they are installing a prefabricated fiberglass pool, then they will put the shell in place.

Finishing

The contractor will complete any remaining surface work or paving necessary. If you wanted a poolside deck or other features, the installation team will add them at this stage.
