Coryell Memorial hosted the GISD 5th Graders for the annual Summer Safety Day Awareness Program, organized by Coryell County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service and the Intermediate School. AirVac flew over and landed so the children were able to see the lifesaving helicopter up close, and ask questions. The children also got to explore the Coryell Memorial EMS ambulances before they headed out to The Oaks Pavilion park to rotate between safety education stations.

The stations included bee safety, by Pam Evetts of Bee Blessed Farms; swim safety, by Coryell County 4-H Ambassadors; CPR lesson, by Coryell EMS; hydration station, by Coryell County 4-H Ambassadors; mosquito avoidance tips, by Robert Ferguson of AgriLife and sun safety by Coryell Medical Clinic's Ryan Ray, RN. Students concluded the day with a demonstration from Texas New Mexico Power on electrical safety.

AgriLife, GISD Intermediate School and Coryell Memorial would like to thank all the volunteers that came out to help educate our youth on ways to have a fun, but safe summer.
