If you are seeking new career opportunities in the trucking industry, becoming a professional driver is not your only option. Diesel technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel engines to ensure they are operating at peak efficiency. To help you gain entry into this exciting field, Professional Driver Institute, in the Greater Rochester Area of New York, is now offering a diesel technician program.

diesel technicianOver the next ten years, there will be an increase in demand for diesel technicians as many current employees are nearing the average of retirement. This is why the faculty at Professional Driver Institute are happy to introduce their new 160-hour Diesel Tech Program designed to prepare individuals with the knowledge and training they need to become entry-level technicians. While most schools run from nine months to two years, the program is four weeks long. It runs monthly and is a fraction of the price of competing schools.

The program is structured around small classes consisting of 10 to 15 students. This ensures they receive individual attention from the instructors. The school understands how crucial fieldwork is in this industry, which is why they have designed the course to be 60 percent hands-on and 40 percent instructional. During the four weeks, students will learn essential industry skills, including truck and trailer preventative maintenance, and basic repair and service skills for diesel equipment.

Professional Driver Institute is also proud to offer lifetime job placement for graduates. Most positions are local to prevent the need for relocation. The starting average wage of a diesel technician is $15 to $18 per hour and up.

Whether you’re in the Diesel Technician program or truck driver training, the Professional Driver Institute will provide you with the tools and education you need to succeed in the industry. Since 1993, they have offered a variety of comprehensive trucking programs, along with dedicated job placement services and state-certified instructors.
