Greek platters, or mezze, are small sharing plates filled with vegetables, cheeses, meats, and spreads. They can be served as an appetizer or snack, but with so many delicious Mediterranean foods on one plate, you may want to make it your whole meal. Here are five must-have items for the perfect Greek platter.

What to Include in Greek Platters

1. Veggies

Colorful veggies are a staple of Greek platters. Standard choices include tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers, asparagus, and marinated artichokes. Some veggies may also be stuffed with feta or goat cheese for extra flavor.

2. Spreads & Dips

Greek platterHummus, flavored with garlic and sometimes red pepper or other veggies, is a centerpiece for many platters. Other favorite dips include tzatziki (yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, and seasoning) and labneh (thick, tangy yogurt cheese), which are perfect for scooping with any of the vegetables on the platter. Tzatziki is especially delicious as a condiment for meat. You can also spread any of these dips onto warm pita wedges or crackers.

3. Olives

No Mediterranean meal is complete without a selection of olives. Choose anything from black olives (whole or sliced) to Kalamata and green olives. You can also marinate your favorite variety.

4. Cheese & Meat

Feta is a must-have in any Greek platter. Other Greek cheeses like Kasseri and Manouri are also great options. For meats, typically salted deli meats like salami and prosciutto are top picks.

5. Dolmades

Dolmades, otherwise known as stuffed grape leaves, are a delicious finger food to add to your mezze. These are typically filled with rice flavored with herbs and garlic, then marinated in lemon juice and olive oil.
