3. Dauphin Island

Set three miles south of Mobile, AL, you can take the Mobile Bay Ferry to get to Dauphin Island. On the north shore, there is Shell Mound Park, a preserved archaeological site with shell mounds that date back to 1100-1500 A.D. You can also check out the marina and the public beach to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunset.
