When something has spilled or stained the carpet, it’s vital to act fast. You must use the proper technique to pull the material out of the carpet fibers and the right chemicals to get rid of the leftover stain. The carpet stain removal experts at Jerry’s Carpet Cleaning Service in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, share a few tips for cleaning the most common types of stains.

3 Carpet Stain Removal Strategies to Know

1. Pet Urine

Use a clean rag or paper towel to gently blot up the urine as much as possible. Do not rub, as this will only push the stain further into the carpet. If you have a wet vacuum, use it on the area to remove any remaining urine. Spray a mixture of half white vinegar and half warm water onto the stain and then blot it. Repeat the process as needed.

2. Coffee

Only apply direct downward pressure; don’t rub. Mix together one tablespoon of liquid dish soap and one tablespoon of white vinegar into two cups of warm water. Wet a cloth with the mixture and press it onto the stain. Trade off blotting the stain with a dry cloth and with the mixture.

3. Blood

If the blood has dried before you get to it, brush it with a steel brush to loosen the stain. Mix one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent into two cups of cold water. Apply it to the blood with a clean towel, dipping back into the mixture between blotting. Then blot with a dry towel to pull out the stain.
