1. Fresh Fruits

Fruits that are high in vitamin C are great for your teeth because vitamin C kills harmful bacteria that can cause issues like gingivitis and gum disease. Fruits — such as oranges, papaya, strawberries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, kiwis, and limes — help reduce bacteria and strengthen the gums. However, your dentist will recommend you have your child wait at least 30 minutes before brushing their teeth after eating any of these fruits since the citric acid temporarily leaves teeth vulnerable to damage from brushing.

2. Veggies

Make sure your child takes their time chewing every bite for effective plaque removal. Bell peppers and sweet potatoes are also great for teeth due to their high vitamin C content.

Healthy fats tend to form a protective layer around the teeth to guard against plaque, sugar, and bacteria. Over time, the fatty oils in nuts and seeds will strengthen the enamel, helping ward off cavities and dental decay. Sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds — along with nuts such as almonds, cashews, and walnuts — are excellent sources of healthy fats.
