It can happen to anyone….

So, you’ve found yourself or a loved one in legal trouble… Let me guess. Your phone is ringing off the hook. Price really is your bottom line and you’ve already spoken with three bail bonds-people that are all undercutting one another to get your business. Frustrating? Confusing?

Welcome to a day in my life!

In previous articles, I have written about what to look for as well as what to stay away from. One decisive action on your part that encompasses many of the points I previously made is the following.

Ask your Bail Bondsman to meet at their office!

This simple advice will negate many headaches in the future. In Missouri, the bail industry is widely unregulated (a fact that Nicholas Bail Bonds is currently trying to change through legislation). With the current, unregulated system in place, there are fly-by-night bail agents around every corner, operating out of the trunk of their cars. Ever watched “Better Call Saul”? Yeah… It’s getting that bad.

Why is an office important?

1. They are invested.

A bail bond agent that is housed in a building is indicative of a “bail bond company”. A company’s reputation matters to them more than anything in the realm of business. It is even more important than profit.

A bail agent without an office has no real overhead expense and overhead is a company’s effort to be their best.

2. They are compliant.

Would you hire a mechanic whose work couldn’t be guaranteed? A bail bond company in an office must do several things to retain that “brick and mortar” locale.

First off all, they must be credit worthy. They must pay their bills on time. They must be insured and they also must carry a city business license and pay taxes like the rest of the free world. These are things you do not have to worry about when you choose a “brick and mortar” company. Your freedom rests in the hands of these people. Wouldn’t you want to know that their own house is in order?

3. They want to impress you.

Business owners do not open offices for the fun of it. They do it to impress upon the public that they care about their product and their customers. It would be tons easier to sit at home and wait for the phone to ring.

However, to suit up, flip the lights on and turn around the open sign to a street-level building says, “I’m ready to do business!” These are the people, you want to do business with because they are in business to make you happy with their work.
