Homeowner insurance can be a lifesaver when unforeseen events occur, but it's amazing what else homeowner insurance coverage can do.  Here are some things that you probably would not expect insurance to cover, but Farmers Insurance often does-

  • Food Spoilage - Damage to contents in a refrigerator or freezer which spoils due to an interruption of electrical service from off the premises.
  • Defense costs – The cost to defend yourself (weather guilty or not) can absolutely break you. O.J. Simpson’s homeowners insurance covered his $2 million legal bill or his civil trial in the case of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman’s deaths. Umbrella coverage usually extends to defamation and wrongful death cases to. Bill Clinton used umbrella coverage as part of the Paula Jones’ sexual harassment suit as well.
  • Re-Key Locks - $500 for to re-key locks on exterior doors when part of a covered loss. No deductible applies.
  • Identity Theft – It’s that fastest growing crime in the country and Farmers Insurance can cover it. They can even cover credit monitoring as well.
  • Headstones - Damaged by someone tipping them over or vandalism insurance will pick up the cost to repair or replace if you’re the primary caretaker.
  • Ice Dams – Many people are surprised to find out the ice dams are covered. Even though there are several things you can do to help prevent them, should it happen to you Farmers Insurance covers it.
  • Pets – There is coverage for veterinary bills and even a death benefit for pets due to a covered homeowners loss with Farmers Insurance.
