If you’re an adventurous soul looking for something new and exciting to check off your bucket list, tandem skydiving is an unforgettable experience you’ll love. You’ll have a knowledgeable instructor coach and encourage you, and you’ll get to enjoy a gorgeous view as you float down to the ground. The instructors at Pacific Skydiving Center in Wailua, HI, have some helpful advice for first-time skydivers.

Your Guide to Tandem Skydiving

What Is It?

Simply put, on a tandem dive you’ll be strapped to an instructor with a harness, and the instructor will guide you through each step of the process. They’ll explain to you what it feels like, what to expect, and they’ll tell you when to jump and when to pull the ripcord and release the parachute.

What Should You Expect?

tandem skydivingSkydivers don’t feel a falling sensation, as it feels more like floating against a strong wind. A good instructor will explain to you each step of the process while taking charge during the jump, helping you feel safe and relaxed. They may also share points of interest and beautiful sights on the way down. Some skydiving companies offer packages to take photos or videos during the jump, so you have a keepsake to remember the experience by.

How Do You Prepare?

With tandem skydiving, you’ll only need minimal instruction since you’ll be connected to an experienced skydiver during your jump. The proper skydiving apparel includes T-shirts, closed-toe shoes, and shorts or pants. If your jump is in the cool hours of the morning, wear a light jacket. If your hair is long, tie it back tightly, so it’s not flying up in your instructor’s face during the jump.

Skydiving is an incredible experience you’ll never forget. At Pacific Skydiving Center, located on the beautiful island of Oahu, each instructor is intentional about making you feel safe and comfortable, so you can fully enjoy the experience. They provide a number of skydiving classes for all levels of divers, as well as an AFF (Accelerated Freefall) class to teach beginners about safety. They also offer photo and video packages to commemorate your dive. Discounts of $15 off are provided for students, military members, and groups.
