Whether you’re considering a conventional furnace or a condensing furnace, the HVAC professionals at Sunshine are always available to answer your questions and to respond to your concerns.

While both conventional furnaces and condensing furnaces are efficient at heating a home, there are a few differences between them that you should consider. One of the most important differences between these types of furnaces has to do with the venting style. During the heating process, furnaces produce combustion gases from which heat is extracted. Once the extraction process is completed, excess gases are vented out of your home. Conventional furnaces tend to make poor use of these combustion gases, with a great portion of them venting out of the chimney flue.

On the other hand, condensing furnaces use heat exchangers to extract as much heat from the combustion gases as possible, even after they’ve cooled. Heat is extracted until condensed water drips from the exchangers, and then the process repeats. In short, condensing furnaces make the most use of the heating, cooling, and venting processes.

One other difference to consider is that conventional furnaces are extremely hot to the touch, making it difficult to inspect or make adjustments to the unit without receiving a minor burn. Condensing furnaces do not pose this risk due to their efficient heating process.

No matter the type of furnace you ultimately choose, it’s a good idea to get an expert opinion. To learn more about furnace options or to inquire about heating and air conditioning service, give Sunshine Air Conditioning and Heating a call at (914) 245-2050, or visit them online
