One of the best ways to pass the time on a hot summer day is to head to the pool. Besides having a cute swimsuit and towel, there are a few essentials you should carry for a relaxing day. Here are four tips for packing the perfect pool bag.

How to Pack Your Bag for the Pool

1. Stylish Bag

Start with a bag that represents your style. Choose your favorite color or select a bag with a fun pattern or image. Whichever you pick, make sure it has ample room for all of your items, and that it sports various pockets, sections, and zippered compartments to keep important items secure and dry.

pool2. Safety Items

Always bring your sunscreen so you can reapply after you’ve gone swimming. Find a pair of UVA/UVB sunglasses to keep your eyes safe and consider a hat to protect your scalp. You should also pack a small first aid kit with bandages and alcohol wipes, and throw in insect spray and a tube of aloe vera gel for any sunburned skin. Don’t forget SPF chapstick for delicate lips!

3. Clothing

Pack at least two towels and a change of clothing for when you want to get out of your wet bathing suit. Bring flip flops for the pool area and a pair of sandals or sneakers for later in case the pool shoes get wet. Keep a small bag with toiletries and grooming essentials like deodorant, brushes or combs, and hair ties and clips to freshen up after a day of swimming.

4. Food & Entertainment

Bring books, magazines, and music for entertainment. Keep tablets, music players, and cellphones in a secure waterproof case and make sure your bag is always within sight of you and your companions. Even though you may bring your own water and snacks, keep a small wallet or change purse so you have cash for lunch or other treats to enjoy by the pool.
