1. Carpet

A similar approach is used to remove both coffee and wine stains from carpeting. Both treatments call for a cleaning solution of vinegar, dish soap, and water. While you can apply the solution to a coffee spill and blot up the liquid quickly, it takes longer to penetrate a wine stain. After pouring the mixture on the area, let it rest for 10 minutes before dabbing the excess moisture. If you still see signs of a mark, add ammonia to the solution. 

2. Clothes

To treat coffee spills on white clothes, turn the garment inside out and pour cold water and laundry detergent on the soiled area. Then, use a toothbrush to scrub the stain. Let the garment soak in a solution of water, vinegar, and laundry detergent for a few hours. Laundry care for wine stains is more complex. You’ll need boiling water, not cold. After blotting the stain, pour salt on the area and let it sit for five minutes. Pour boiling water on the stain and then put the garment in the washing machine on hot to extract the remaining liquid.  

3. Upholstery 

If wine spills on upholstery, blot the surface with a paper towel then apply a mixture of hand soap, white vinegar, and warm water to the area. Dab the liquid with a clean washcloth.
