Along with hardwood, tile flooring is fast becoming one of the most coveted floors. It looks nicer and more expensive than laminate, and it’s more practical and easier to clean than wall-to-wall carpeting. Plus, there’s a bevy of natural ways to keep tile looking sparkling new — even after years of heavy use. Here are a few methods.

How to Keep Tile Flooring Like New

1. Vinegar

Mix one part white vinegar with one part water and pour the solution into a bucket or spray bottle. If you’re using a bucket, wring out the mop to prevent excess saturation. With a spray bottle, spritz a few sections of the floor and wipe it up with the mop. The diluted vinegar does triple-duty: it disinfects, deodorizes, and wipes away surface stains.

2. Baking Soda

3. Club Soda

While baking soda may be the most effective natural stain-remover, club soda and water are ideal for grease stains. You’ll probably only need to resort to this combination when stains from food grease don’t come out with the baking soda solution. Dip a washcloth into the solution and wipe up the grease. Wait a few minutes for the spot to dry. Scrub what remains with a handheld brush using a circular motion.
