Don’t be afraid to poke around to get an idea of the condo rental and its community. Look it up online to see if there are any reviews of the location. Walk around every corner of the area to get a feel for what it’s like and do a thorough search of the apartment. Look underneath the sinks for signs of water damage and in the cupboards for signs of rodent droppings.

Find out who pays for utilities and how long the lease length is.

Go over budget.

The budget should be at the top of your list of priorities. Calculate how much you can afford each month for the apartment, including utilities, and stick to that budget only.
