As a parent, it’s not always easy to keep your young ones busy. And while it’s simple to turn on the television, it’s important to fill your child’s time with activities that are both educational and stimulating. By supplementing what your little one learns at their preschool program with at-home exercises, you’ll further their development and encourage them to take on new interests.

3 Types of Activities for Preschool Children

1. Science Projects

preschool activitiesDid you know you can use simple household ingredients to put together science projects for your children? Purchase baking soda, vinegar, and food dye to show your kid how to make bubbles. You can also use a soda bottle to mix these ingredients and teach your little one about volcanoes. Mix a cup of vinegar with a food dye color. Then, scoop some baking soda on a tray or into a bottle, and have your child use a dropper to deposit some of the vinegar and make colorful bubbles or an “eruption.”

2. Paint Boards

In their preschool program, children will develop their creativity through arts and crafts. Let them showcase their skills at home with finger painting! Buy some Styrofoam® boards and kid-friendly paint, and let your child design their own masterpiece using their fingers. Once it dries, you can hang it up on your wall or in your child’s bedroom.

3. Treasure Hunts

Treasure hunts are a fun way to combine nature and education. Take your child on a walk through the park or your backyard to collect sticks, rocks, leaves, flowers, or any other interesting items they find along the way. When you get home, let your child paste their treasures into a shoebox and decorate them with color.
