If you need a new roof, you likely want it done as soon as possible. However, there are a few factors involved that determine how long the process will take. In case you’re not familiar with roofing, Countywide Roofing has put together some information on how long it takes to replace one to give you a better understanding.

Type of Roof

The kind of roof that’s being removed and replaced has a big impact on how long it takes. Asphalt shingles take the least amount of time to replace, usually just a day or two, while concrete tile roofs take the longest—up to a week. Wood shakes are in the middle, taking three or four days.

Size of Home

It stands to reason that the larger your home is, the longer the roofing job will take. A 1,500- to 2,500-square-foot home usually takes two days: one day to remove the existing roof and another to put on the new one.

Number of Workers

roofingA typical roofing crew has anywhere from five to 10 workers. Any fewer than that, and it could take longer than the average two days; any more, and they could end up getting in one another’s way.

Weather

Roofing companies usually try to schedule roof replacement and installation when the weather forecast is clear for at least two days, but that’s not always foolproof. In the event of rain or other inclement weather, the contractors will lay down tarps and delay their work until the skies clear.
