Are you planning to take a road trip this year? For those who have resolved to travel more in 2018, there’s no better way to see the sights than in an RV. All of that extra space means you’ll need a different checklist than what you’re normally accustomed to. As roadside assistance professionals since 1971, the team at Bolster’s Towing in Kalispell, MT, has shared some advice on how to prepare for your trip.

Food & Snacks

One of the best parts of traveling in an RV is being able to prepare meals and snacks while on the go. Make sure that you have the right cooking equipment and utensils for the meals that you have planned. Consider planning out your meals, then assess each recipe to make sure that you have the tools necessary. Some basics that you’ll need include plates and bowls, pots and pans, mixing bowls and spoons, sponges and dish soap, spices, and cooking oil.

Sleeping

There’s nothing better than opening the windows of an RV and feeling the night air as you sleep. This ensures that you wake up feeling refreshed, especially when you have the right equipment. Make sure to pack along the essentials, such as sheets, sleeping bags, and pillows.

Have an Emergency Plan

Roadside AssistanceAs with any vehicle, emergency can strike an RV at any time. It’s important to have a plan in place in the event of a flat tire or engine issues. Take note of your trip route as well as any nearby mechanics, roadside assistance companies, and towing services. Make sure that you have a spare tire on hand, as well as spare oil and parts. – Write down the answers to some of the questions you will be asked if the RV needs to be towed: How long is the RV? (18-46 ft) What Class is the RV? (A-C) What chassis does the RV have? (Ford, Chevy, Freightliner, etc) How tall is the RV from the ground to the top of the A/C unit?
