Local Health Care Facility Suggests 3 Healthy Resolutions for 2018, Queens, New York

When the New Year rolls around, many people make resolutions to improve themselves in a specific way. One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight. However, a lot of individuals tend to set unrealistic weight loss goals, leading them to give up within the first few weeks. That’s why it’s better to focus on goals that concentrate on good health instead of just the number on the scale. Medex Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a health care facility in Forest Hills, NY, shares a few healthy resolutions to consider making this year.

3 Healthy Resolutions for 2018

1. Get a Physical

No matter what your age or health status, try starting off the year with a physical. When you go to your local health care facility to receive this exam, your doctor will likely ask about your medical history, check your blood pressure, examine your heart, and perform various other health tests you may require. For example, if you are over 50, your physician may recommend a screening for colorectal cancer. Making time to go to the doctor’s office helps you find out about health problems you didn’t know you had and receive the proper treatment for them.

2. Make Sleep a Priority

Try to get at least seven hours of sleep a night. To help you fall asleep, avoid ingesting anything with caffeine in the evening and turn off electronics an hour before bedtime.

3. Practice Mindful Eating

Many people are used to devouring our food as we watch television or browse the internet. This can distract us and cause us to overeat. When it’s time to eat a meal, sit down at a table and eat your food more slowly so you can enjoy it. Mindful eating helps you avoid consuming too much.

If it’s been a while since you have visited a doctor, contact the team at Medex Diagnostic and Treatment Center at (718) 275-8900.
