Losing someone you love is one of the most difficult experiences that anyone can live through. Grief can be confusing and isolating, especially once funerals, memorials, and burial services are over and life must return to normal. However, there are ways to ease your journey through grief, even if there are not ways to eliminate the pain. Here are three ways to help deal with your grief after a loved one passes.

3 Ways to Deal With Grief After the Death of a Loved One

1. Be Patient

Grief is not a feeling that passes quickly. Be patient with yourself and do not expect to feel like yourself at a specific time. Different people move through grief at different paces, and there is no “normal” time to begin feeling better.

Funeral2. Keep Memories

Instead of trying to move forward immediately, try to treasure memories of your loved one. Many grieving people also draw comfort from remembering funerals or memorial services, reading cards from other loved ones, or spending time outdoors to think and remember. You might also try writing down your feelings in a diary as you work your way through grief.

3. Try to Heal

While you cannot expect to “move on” or “get back to normal,” you can heal from your grief and allow it to become a part of who you are. Instead of focusing on the negative feelings, focus on your memories and on how you can restore your quality of life by healing emotionally.
