The Connecticut DMV has made a few changes but not really publicized them; I only found out through the CT Independant auto dealers association. First of all, registrations, whether new, transfer or renewal are going up by $10.00 January first. This is to fund and support Connecticut State Parks. Secondly, all trade-ins are being charged a $35.00 fee which is not to be passed on to the consumer starting December 1st 2017. I have no idea where the money from this is going. I do know that if anyone thinks that any car dealer is going to pay a fee and NOT pass it on to the consumer somehow then I have a bridge that they can buy from me. The $35.00 is to be collected. The dealers are to keep track of this trade in fee and pay it to DMV quarterly by means yet to be announced.
