Taking care of your new car refinish may seem like a lot of work, but you’ll keep your car in tip-top shape for years if you follow these simple steps from C & H Body And Fender in Honolulu, HI. After working with cars for over 30 years, they’re the people you can trust to handle every auto body repair, car dent removal, and auto paint repair.

After waiting 60 days for your refinishing to set, begin your proper car care with:

  1. Washing: The biggest no-brainer. Wash your car like you love it, and, to avoid swirl marks, get a high-quality shampoo—or if you really want to be fancy, get a microfiber drying towel. Swirl marks? Gone.
  2. Cleaning: Clean your car with detailing clay. Car claying is a time-tested procedure that removes all the contaminants that are attacking your ride throughout the day; and contaminants don’t care if your car is old or new, so don’t make the mistake of going without. Purchase the stuff and make a habit to put your clay bar to use, as it’s the only way to remove the harsh, piercing elements that will damage and dull your shine.
  3. Polishing: Polishing is for your paint. Purchase a high quality polish to literally rub off defects that have permeated your paint, and caused unequal coloring and scratches.
  4. Waxing: Waxing equals protection. Begin building your protective barrier with a good wax, paint protectant, or paint sealant. This is one of the most important things to do to prevent your car from premature aging, especially if you live in a harsh climate. Waxing, or the modern paint sealants, will afford your car an added layer of protection.
  5. Maintaining: Conduct washing regularly, but commence your polishing and waxing about every 3 months. A better test invented by experts is to splash a little water onto your car, and see how small the beads are. The smaller the beads, the better, but if more than a half-inch bead results, it’s time to go the full round. Better yet, you can purchase some easy “quick-detailers” that are known as waterless washes, and that remove surface flecks when you’re between rounds.

Keep up with this list and you’ll be the happiest car owner in Hawaii, riding around Honolulu in a car that looks brand-spanking new for many years. For all your other auto body shop needs, call C & H Body And Fender at (808) 841-3618, or visit them online for more information.
