The 2017 Waikoloa Amateur Championship was played at Waikoloa Village Golf Club, October 21st and 22nd.  The 36-hole stroke play competition featured 88 players across three flights.  The players experienced great weather both days of the tournament with minimal wind.

Pono Yanagi of Hilo won the championship flight over Victor Sanchez of Waikoloa. It was an exciting finish which had to be decided on the first playoff hole. Yanagi birdied hole number 10 while Sanchez parred. Yanagi shot 70 for the first round and closed out with a 74. Sanchez shot 72, 72.

In the A Flight, Alvin Tanaka of Hilo shot 70, 75 to win by 10 strokes over Austin Cypriano of Honoka’a. On the net side, Agnes Yamauchi of Hilo won with a 36-hole total of 132.

In the Senior Flight Gross Maurice Miranda of Honoka’a shot 74, 67 to win by one over 2016 winner Kelly Whelan of Hilo. On the net side, Bill Price of Kamuela won with a 36-hole total of 125.
