For many Americans, no Thanksgiving is complete without a turkey dinner and a slice of pumpkin pie. But what about the beverages? A holiday-themed, simple cocktail is an excellent way to round out your feast. Below are a few creative mixtures to keep in mind on your next trip to the liquor store.

Cocktail Recipes for Turkey Day

1. Apple Cider & Rum Punch

Mix one cup of aged rum, one cup of vermouth, ¼ cup of simple syrup with a few dashes of bitters together in a large pitcher. Stir in two cups of ice until it’s melted, then add a ½ cup of apple slices, three one-inch pieces of orange zest, and a 12-ounce bottle of dry apple cider.

2. Tea & Bourbon Punch

Use four bags of Earl Grey tea and 1¼ cup of water to prepare a strong brew, then simmer a ½ cup of water, a ½ cup of honey, four sprigs of thyme, and a couple sprigs of rosemary. Discard the herbs. In a large punch bowl, blend the tea, one cup of lemon juice, 1½ cups each of bourbon and brandy, and a teaspoon of orange bitters.

3. The Classic Manhattan

4. Dark & Stormy

The balance between the ginger and citrus elements makes this classic a great Thanksgiving after-dinner drink. Just mix two ounces of your favorite dark rum with three ounces of ginger beer and a ½ ounce of lime juice. Serve over ice in a tall glass.

5. Hot Apple Pie Cider

If you’re looking for a simple fall drink, just pour a glass of your favorite apple cider and drop in a shot of Fireball whiskey and enjoy. If your local liquor store has other varieties of flavored whiskeys, you can create your own holiday variation.
