Screen printing can be a great way to produce high-quality clothing and other items. But do you know how the process works exactly? Here, Stellar Designs, serving Anchorage, AK, since 1981, has answered a few of the most frequently asked questions they receive from customers.

Common Questions About Screen Printing

What Is Screen Printing Commonly Used For?

Although screen printing can be used for many different tasks, it’s most commonly used for printing high-quality designs on clothing, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, and other items. However, you’re not limited to articles of clothing: You can also screen print oven mitts, canvas bags, and table covers.

What Types of Files Do You Accept?

screen printingMany customers new to the process aren’t sure which file types they can submit to the company. In most cases, a 300dpi vector .pdf, tiff, or .jpeg file is best. If you’ve got a color file already printed, make sure it’s large and clear. This will produce the best end result.

What Type of Ink Will Be Used?

The most common are water-based and plastisol inks, both of which have their own benefits and advantages. Plastisol inks can last longer on the screen before drying and usually rest on top of a garment, while water-based inks seep into your item and dye it through. The right ink will be determined by the product you want your image printed on.

How Do You Match the Color I Want?

When it comes to printing your clothing or apparel, screen printing experts strive to be as accurate as possible in matching the right color for your product. For this reason, their experts provide color card bearing standard ink colors that will help you select the most accurate match, as well as a markup of the design before printing to ensure it adheres exactly to your standards.
